Trustee Focus: Steve Falk
Canadian Print Scholarships is proud to recognize Trustee Steve Falk, a leader whose career reflects the creativity, discipline, and constant evolution that define the printing industry. From early hands-on experiences to senior leadership roles, he has helped shape how print connects with people, and how organizations measure results, while keeping students and emerging talent firmly in view.
Celebrating Steve’s Leadership
Steve’s connection to print started early, at 14, working in the Scholastic Book warehouse in Richmond Hill, where he learned the pace and precision behind production and distribution. That formative experience, plus a strong foundation in visual communication through art history studies at the University of Toronto and art fundamentals at Sheridan College set the stage for a career bridging design, data, and operations.
Over time, he built deep expertise across direct mail, marketing services, and print manufacturing, including long-running partnerships throughout Canada’s print ecosystem. As co-founder and president of Prime Data, he helped scale a digital printing and mailing business into a high-volume operation producing tens of millions of pieces annually for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations. He also stayed focused on what comes next. From earlier adoption of full-colour inkjet production to programmatic direct mail tied to digital campaigns, he has consistently brought practical innovation to the work. In recent years, he has also advanced sustainability leadership, commissioning a full emissions audit that tracked the footprint of a mail piece from tree to mailbox, and contributing to industry collaboration through the Sustainable Mail Group and NAMMU.

From visual creativity to project management, physical production to cutting-edge technology, and business development, it’s a sector that demands a unique blend of skills and passion. As a volunteer Trustee with the Print Industry Scholarship fund, I’m honored to play a role in attracting and nurturing the next generation of talent. Through our outreach and financial support, we aim to capture the attention of students who thrive on the dynamic nature of our industry and seek careers that rewards the curious and combines artistic expression with challenging problem-solving. It’s a responsibility and a privilege to contribute to an initiative that not only supports aspiring professionals but also ensures the long-term viability of our industry by cultivating a path for skilled and dedicated individuals.
Supporting the Next Generation
For Steve, scholarships are not a side project, they are part of responsible leadership. He understands that print thrives when curious, capable people can enter the field, learn quickly, and see a future for themselves. His work in outreach and partner relations reflects that belief, bringing together educators, employers, and supporters so students can access financial help, mentorship, and a clearer view of the varied careers available across graphic communications, operations, marketing, and sustainability.
