Student Focus: Rebecca Karton
Nice to meet you; I’m Rebecca Karton. I plan to be a Graphic Communications Management (GCM) graduate of ’24. The donors have helped many students relieve an educational financial burden through the CPISTF, including myself, and for that I am grateful and honoured. They have allowed my focus to move from the present to the future.
I’ve always loved books, so what better place to be than the industry that prints them? My minor is in English to understand the creation and editing pipeline of manuscripts, and my GCM concentration is publishing to understand the transformation of those words into a physical experience.
The printing industry is home to many different people and disciplines. From art to science, I’ve learned tips and tricks for design processes, finishing processes, and everything in between. GCM has made me a well-rounded individual, expanding my science knowledge into print-specific areas. The program has sparked an interest I must pursue, premedia operations. Perhaps I’ll see you there!
