My name is Elodie Brewer and I am a first-year student in the GTEC program at BCIT. This last September I was awarded the John Kouwenhoven in Memoriam Scholarship from the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund. John Kouwenhoven was a founding partner at Hemlock printers, and an ardent supporter of regional training in the print industry. The scholarship set up in John’s name is to support students such as myself as we study for careers in the print industry
I am personally both grateful and thrilled to have been the recipient of the John Kouwenhoven scholarship. The scholarship will help ease the financial burdens of my post-secondary training and allow me more free time for my studies. It is also heartening to know that I am entering an industry that supports training and career advancement and has also a strong sense of community.
The mission of the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund is to attract the brightest and best students available to the graphic communications industry by providing financial assistance to enroll and continue in a post-secondary management or technical program at an approved institution.
