Our customer is looking for a Production Manager for their packaging preprint division. This Management leader will be responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and productivity of all printed products.  The ideal candidate will provide leadership to the organization, especially in the development of standard processes and procedures. The Production Manager will report to the Director of Operations.

The job title is Production Manager, however, this is more of a Plant Manager role as noted in the job description and requirements below.

Responsibilities: 

Responsible for all plant operations, including safety, quality, and productivity
Participate and lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives
Interact with the Sales, Scheduling, Shipping, Payroll, and Accounting Departments as required
Develop, meet, and or exceed annual Plant & Line objectives in regards to efficiency targets and shrinkage targets
Identify and lead initiatives areas within the Production Operation where costs can be reduced and growth can be maximized
Attain and optimize Team Member performance through the management and ownership of the Performance Enhancement & Management Program (PEM)
Oversee the development and cross-training of Team members to maximize the flexibility and depth to meet Plant/Line Goals
Ensure that the Labour Costs are effectively managed by the Operation Leaders and ensure that the Attendance levels/goals are being met for the Production Hourly Team
Ensure quality standards are met on raw materials as well as converted products
Maximize productivity and efficiency by developing, monitoring, and managing appropriate processes and procedures within all aspects of the business including Raw Material storage, warehousing, and Material Handling
Perform "Safety Observations" to ensure specific safety rules, procedures, housekeeping, proactive accident prevention, and conscious "safety" behaviours are adhered to and enforced  if necessary
Ensure that the Operations Leaders and Hourly Production Team adhere to all H&S laws and regulations as required by the Occupation Health & Safety Act, WSIB, Energy Act, and any other specific act that is applicable in our workplace.  Ensure that Production and OL safety goals are communicated and met each year.
Encourage, empower, and motivate Operations Leaders and hourly Team members toward excellence.
Maintain and monitor the overtime program

Qualifications:

Postgraduate degree/diploma in related business studies or Equivalent Experience
5-10 years management experience in manufacturing setting, ideally with flexo printing experience
Proven experience in manufacturing to meet bottom line
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to compile reports and present at meetings
Ability to liaise with all levels of management and employees
Personally involved with all events and decisions

Keeps customers informed about the status of pending actions and audits customer satisfaction with products or services.

Stays focused on objectives and considers both the short-term and longer-term impact of decisions and keeps objectives in mind throughout the process. Communicates the impact and implications of decisions. Completes the appropriate level of due diligence required to make a quick, accurate decision.

Drive for Results – Achieves results within established timelines. Understands and demonstrates that intentions, activities, and results are not the same. Pursues everything with energy, drive, and a need to finish; does not give up before finishing, even in the face of resistance or setbacks; consistently challenges self and others for results.
