Graduate Focus: Kyle Sassman
Kyle Sassman, a graduate of the GCM (Graphic Communications Management) program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), lives and breathes print and loves sharing his passion for the printed word with his colleagues and customers.
“After I was accepted to the GCM program at TMU (formerly Ryerson), I applied for several scholarships and one that I was very excited to be awarded was The Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship. The award was an invaluable source of support for me as a new University student; offering financial assistance and recognition of all the hard work I had put into my high school studies. The Canadian Print Scholarships process included an interview with an industry member, and I had the sincere pleasure of being interviewed by Warren Wilkins of Webcom Inc (now Marquis Book Printing). Getting an opportunity to visit a printing facility, speak with an experienced industry executive and talk about what inspired both of us to enter the print industry, was an invaluable experience.”
For the past ten years, Kyle has been helping post-secondary and secondary schools create long-lasting, cherished memories through the pages of their yearbooks in his role as Yearbook Consultant at Friesens Corporation. His previous fifteen years of industry experience covered a wide gamut of roles; Application Support at Avanti Computer Systems (Print MIS), Production Manager at Marrin and Sales at both Vertis Communications and Webcom Inc.
“The mission of Canadian Print Scholarships is to attract the brightest and best students available to the graphic communications industry by providing financial assistance to enroll and continue in a post-secondary management or technical program at an approved institution.”
